About AWISE.World

Innovation isn’t just about technology. It’s the bringing together of ideas, people, and technology to delivery something special.

AWISE.World (or The Albury-Wodonga Innovation Summit & EXPO) is a one day event that will be held on Wednesday 4th September in Wodonga to explore, celebrate, and learn about advancements in innovation locally, nationally, and globally. It will also address how these advancements are impacting society and how we can embrace them for a positive future.

AWISE.World is actually series of concurrent events which are to be delivered in one day at The Cube and TAFE Space in Wodonga including the WiseUP Youth Summit which will be live streamed to classrooms throughout Victoria.

AWISE.World is being run as the major event for the 3rd Annual North East Digital Innovation Festival. Below is a brief recap video of the 2018 Innovation Summit & EXPO

Victor Perton
Chief Optimism Officer

Victor is an author, speaker, compère, moderator, barrister and researcher. He is also a Director, on many Boards including Yarra Valley Water, Lifeguard Health Networks, the Global Integrity Summit & the Australian Centre for Financial Studies.

So what does he bring to AWISE….a wealth of experience and case for Optimism!

Michael Lappen
UTS Industry Advisory Board

With 45 years of experience as CEO in the IT industry, Michael has a stellar track record – one that is too long to mention here.

As Chair of the Industry Advisory Board for the UTS’ (University of Technology Sydney) Faculty of Transdisciplinary Innovation, Michael has a broad insight into what it will take for Australia to Innovate

Lisa Ryan
Chief Technology Officer
Hume Bank

Lisa has a wealth of experience in the banking sector including roles in IT, Commercial and Agribusiness, and Regional Business Banking. In addition to her banking experience Lisa recently had a stint as the Smart Cities Coordinator for the joint Albury-Wodonga Smart Cities initiative. She is also on the board of Albury Wodonga Health

Michelle Mannering
Developer Community Manager @ GitHub

Michelle was born and raised in Albury-Wodonga and has won a number of state and national awards including the DELL Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Michelle works for GitHub which is the biggest open source platform in the world. Michelle also has interests in many other activities including esports, hackathons, and is a co-founder of an electric scooter start-up.

  • The Innovation & Technology EXPO is open to the public from 10:00am until 3:00pm. There is no need to register to attend this public part of the AWISE event.

AWISE.World is being run as part of the North East Digital Innovation Festival. This year is the 3rd annual NEDIF and will run from 23rd August to 6th September.
